Sonora Caverns

Yes there is transportation from Sonora Municipal Airport (KSOA) to the Caverns of Sonora--the City of Sonora does have a transport van available (a rather huge beastie). Contact Leonard (cell, 903-875-9681); probably easiest to reach him at city offices 325-387-2558).

Caverns are just 15 minutes away; just buy gas from them (self-serve & the hoses are tunneled underground away from the tanks). And gas up the van!

Beautiful caverns; excellent day trip and as noted, good steakhouse close by. Above the ground, on the ground and under the ground....

Awesome!! We had a discussion about this in those older threads and people admitted that transportation was hard. Glad you found a way to make it happen, and better yet, made a PIREP! Do you have pictures to share?

Many thanks for this timely news! As I posted in a different thread, I'm planning a visit to the caverns en route to Santa Fe next month, and was tentatively planning to land at San Angelo just to be able to get a car. (Kind of silly to have all the infrastructure of an airport at your town, then have people avoid it because they can't get off the field except by foot!)
