Randall, in my plane, would be departing Monticello, NY KMSV en route to Wiscasset KIWI, most likely by way of Portland KPWM.
Without a doubt, he got held over in Monticello because of weekend WX.
However, leaving there on Sept. 03, tell me what the FlightAware indicates.
Did Albany, NY and Rutland, VT figure into the picture?

Looks like he filed to MHT, but somehow ended up in ALB.
Filed ALB to PWM and diverted, then filed to LEB and diverted again, into RUT.

Had some bad weather up your way? It looked IFR watching the Golf match north of Boston on TV on Monday.

That was my unofficial interpretation of the FlightAware data.

Yeah, Northeast has been having adverse WX for several days.
He's not IR; PP-ASEL since March 2013.

After I emailed him about possible bad WX I received the following:

Jerry,

There's an off chance you'll get a letter from the FAA about my declared emergency today, although I hope not.

At 3:15 this afternoon, I was minding my own business on my way home from Monticello (with a 35-knot tailwind!) at 9,500 feet, well over a broken layer of tops at 7,000. The terrain below was 4,500, and the clouds were not far above that, so I chose to go over.

The tingling in my fingers after a few minutes was easily recognizable, so I asked Boston Center to let me down through a hole - when my heart started pounding, I declared an emergency and was vectored to the nearest airport, Rutland Vermont (which is gorgeous, btw.)

After getting down a few thousand feet, I immediately felt better, but still chose to land and regroup. The controller called to verify that I was passing 6,500 - I answered his other question spontaneously: "yessir, 6,500 and still conscious."

The routing and descent are at the link below. The spike in altitude after 3:21 is fabricated - I got on the ground in seven minutes and stayed there until I'd had food, water, and an hour to rest before continuing on. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N7872G

I found the audio archive, though it's fuzzy. If you're interested, it's here: http://www.liveatc.net/archive.php?m=zbw_gdm
Choose Sept 3rd, 1900-1930Z, then skip ahead to the 15:00 mark - I'm on for about three minutes there, fuzzy and not super interesting.

Pictures of many airports forthcoming. t'was an epic trip.

- Randall
