So your son wants to take ballet lessons...

Shame shame shame. :nono:

The things you have to put up with to participate in live theatre.

LOL! It's like this kid who was the only male student in a local dance school told me:
"When other kids give me a hard time about doing ballet, I tell them I spend three nights a week dancing with beautiful chicks and ask 'so what did you guys do last night'?... That usually shuts them up." :D
For a hetero male, being in a ballet company is like "fox in the henhouse" time. And every woman appreciates a guy who can dance.

Also explains why I've learned to never make fun of a male nurse.

I had a (male) friend in 4th grade who took ballet. Nobody _ever_ picked a fight with him twice. He had (for a 4th grader) incredible body control and strength.

My sister was a dancer and instructor, so I got roped in early. Met the first love of my life while playing the Nutcracker Prince to her Clara. When I played sports in school it was obvious that the dance background paid off in flexibility and agility - I NEVER got hurt.

One of the book series I follow is Eric Flint's 1632. In one of the books, they have a soldier who also dances ballet. He said that the other guys in his unit gave him trouble about it - until they saw that he maxed out his physical, every time.
