"Smokin" Joe Frazier Died

He was a great heavyweight boxing champ. Some of the best title fights ever. He was 67 and died of liver cancer.

As a kid I would listen to the radio give round by round description of the fights with Joe and Muhammad Ali. Smokin Joe was a brawle, toe to toe fighter. Ali was a craftsman, skilled, mover. The contrast was exciting to listen to, then to see the fight on TV weeks later.

RIP Joe. Thanks for the thrills.

My father had ringside seats for the second MSG fight.

Frazier fought Ali and the entire publicity machine that surrounded Ali and later ensured his sainthood.
