This book is not available for loan, sorry.

But you should try to read it.

This guy is the real thing. A pilot's pilot. He got his start in aviation not long after the Wrights figured it all out, and his career spanned many of the major aviation historical events over the next 40 years. He flew, and flew well, many of the piston airplanes out there, and in all kinds of conditions. Starting in WW I, then barnstorming, then airmail, and for various companies after that. He flew the light beacons across the country, he flew the AN ranges, talks about the first ILS he ever saw. They often flew imc with no instruments. Aerobatics. Taught the first Chinese to fly. Mexico, flying gold. Air Transport Command across the Atlantic, WWII. As Spike noted yesterday, he gave up his #1 seniority position to go with a start-up company, Matson Air.
Absolutely a great story.

Is this the guy referenced as #1 by Gann in Fate is the Hunter?
