600+ hours and 23 years since new on a O470U.

Overhaul or IRAN?

Model ?

IRAN or new.

If buying new ASSURE that SB’s are all c/w at time of purchase.

SureFly on left mag and overhauled or new Slick on the right is worth considering. A new all solid-state mag isn't much more expensive than a new slick an significantly more reliable all the way to engine TBO. https://www.surefly.net/

My mechanic agrees with this approach so this is the plan

Just did this on my Mooney. Starts in about one revolution. Had the right mag IRAN'd, 564 hours on it. ShrikeAero did the work, pretty much replaced everything inside. Went with Maggie ignition harnesses. Very happy with the results so far.

Did this on my Tiger. Right mag SureFly, left mag OH Slick 4371. Works great.

Not sure they overhaul them, I just had both of mine done. It was called a 500hr inspection, not called an overhaul. One cost about $450, the other about $1100. One just got wear parts, the other needed a new coil, they had about 650hrs on them. I bought one "new" one swapped it out, then when I got it back swapped it for the other one. Now I have a spare.
