A friend of a friend is going to be visiting the Baltimore MD area this summer, and wants to try skydiving. Wondering if anyone here has any recommendations, other than it seems silly to voluntarily jump out of a perfectly functional aircraft... :)

How close does it have to be? I have a friend that is a big time jumper and we'd go with him sometimes to Skydive Cross Keys, NJ.

They have everything from the basic tandom jumps up to lage formations, pending your friends qualifications.

RJD (Ridley MD) has a fair amount of sky diving operations going on. It’s about an hour’s drive across the bay bridge on the eastern shore.

Warrenton, VA (KHWY) has a very active skydiving operation that is pretty much daily throughout the summer. They have both piston and turboprop jump-planes. From what I've seen, it's a very professional and safe operation. If you'd jumped today, you'd have been sharing the sky with a B-17 and a number of aerobatic and classic aircraft. Hearing the opening snap of the parachute and the following "woooooohooooo!" from the jumper always makes me smile when I'm in my hangar.

Just as a follow up to this as OP, about 2 days after she mentioned skydiving and I offered to see if I could find her any info the Kansas City accident happened. That particular event coming so close to her planning pretty much has removed the idea from something she's interested in.

I do really appreciate all of the info on this from everyone, though. Thanks you!
