Skydiver and Extra 300 in formation

That is a pretty sweet video. He is really hanging that thing out there on the prop to stay with him.

Very well done!

Yikes. I like cool stuff, but I don't like this one - I just don't like putting people and spinning props so close together. Not to mention, what happens if the chute or cords would get into the prop? Ugh.

I suspect that's some of the appeal for those who pursue such things.

It is formation flight, what is the difference between a spinning prop hitting nylon, lines, or aluminum? Besides that parachute turns faster then 99% of GA aircraft the skydiver is not without control.

Aluminum would probably get cut through, yes... I'm not so sure the fabric would be cut through, it may just suck the whole mess into the prop, slicing the skydiver and/or stopping the engine on the plane. Having a body tangled up in the prop would be really bad for W&B on the plane, and make it rather difficult to recover in a survivable fashion for the airplane pilot as well.

Doesn't make any rational sense plane to plane contact and plane to parachute contact are both equally bad. Both have undetermined outcomes, we can't predict damage or what would be controllable post impact.
Anyway that parachute is more maneuverable than most airplanes and can be released in a second or so if the jumper wishes.

The skydiver and the Extra might be a lot farther apart than it appears in the video. As long as both are able to control their flight path reasonably well and they maintain a separation significantly greater than their control error it might not be any more dangerous than formation aerobatics.:yikes:
