Anybody install a skybeacon on a PA28-161? The plane is not on the list so a 337 is required.
337 is required of all installations.
Regarding the FAA's memorandum , "Installation Approval for ADS-B Out Systems", dated March 2, 2016: If you have a letter giving you permission to use the original STC, like the one for the GDL-82 issued to Garmin for their Mooney install, you can use this permission letter without obtaining field approval for the GDL-82 install in other aircraft. If uAvionix offers a similar letter of permission for download on their website, it does not matter if you are on a list...you are covered. This simplifies the ADS-B OUT install quite a bit. One thing more, to be in total compliance with this memorandum, you are required to send in a 337 after you have completed an Operational Flight Evaluation. You must state " The installed ADS-B OUT system was shown to meet the equipment performance requirements of 14 CFR 91.227". A logbook entry and an Aircraft Flight Manual Revision stating these same words are also required before you are done.
I just looked at the uAvionix website for Skybeacon. They have a 337 already filled out for users...pretty nice, IMO.
