Sky writing

19 hour route.
cool track

Yeah 19hrs doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun to me.... Have to keep yourself occupied somehow, though!

I am waiting for the first person on here to calculate the waypoints, file and have ATC give them a block altitude and paint POA in the sky....:yesnod:

Or maybe Ted can write DOG somewhere there is little used airspace back east....:dunno::dunno:..

Far as I can tell, this doesn't look illegal...

Ben.

What was the point?
Publicity.

I think it's a high stakes game. The B-787 Vs the A-380. It's a cage match vying for the long routes. That sounds suspiciously like these aircraft are 'make or break' for the companies. I don't believe that is the case since on one hand (Airbus) they are highly subsidized by nations, on the other hand (Boeing) they have diversified their holdings. Yet I do believe each company would take a significant hit if they cannot capture the not too plentiful long distance routes.

An alternate game plane is to develop other routes. Boeing has the upper hand as they have secured 330 ETOPS. Yet still, how many routes are available these days? It's not like the 50s and 60s and Pan-Am Vs TWA.

How many folks are flying, say direct DAL-SYD?...sufficient for a daily run? How many of these 380s and 787s can the world market bare?
