Site System For Rifles Makes Anyone A Long Range Shooter

Probably costs and weighs more than my plane. I'll stick to my Nikon scope and trigger time to become a better shot. But still pretty cool, though.

Not sure it's the "first". About 10 years ago there was an online web site that controlled a rifle located on a ranch in Texas. You could buy the ability to shoot the gun from a distance. As I recall, they were told to cease and desist. The marketing pitch included "this allows handicapped folks to hunt even when they can't go into the field".

Personally, setting up an internet-controllable gun near a ranch feeder is not exactly a "sport". YMMV

That is not the same. I shoot/hunt long range (1000-2000 yards) and this technology is awesome but it does give anyone the ability to be a pretty good long range shooter. I'd like to see it in a competition.

Putting a shot on target at that range is pretty cool. Guys in trailers in Vegas will still hold the record I think...

This is not the same thing. It is a sighting system with amazing capabilities. Watch the videos.

Of course, it presumes that the person can get the muzzle ever pointed in the right direction long enough to hit the target at 500 yards. That's pretty tough for some.

Plus you have to do it twice. Once to paint the red dot on the target and then again to make it fire (in that one mode)

I bet at that distance you end up moving that red dot around a bit before actually getting it where you need it.

The technology is amazing though.

What is happening (I think) is that you laze the target, the scope makes a shooting solution (then moves the dot based on winds, temps, baro pressure, ect.) then you put the dot back on the lazed target and bam. Amazing!

I shoot some low level competitions with .308 to 1000 yards. In every competition there are people that make ballistics errors, wind errors, some trigger pull errors, etc. and these are experienced shooters. I don't know if this will really eliminate a lot of that, but the concept is interesting. Our Accuracy International rifles cost about $8K all in, these look like $20K. I sure wouldn't mind testing one, but that's a lot of avgas for a rifle.

The only people allowed to do that are the government drone operators.

I learned to shoot with open sights. Never tried a sighted weapon (no need).

This gizmo will not prevent someone from snatching the trigger off target nor will it teach how to time and fire during their respiratory pause.
It's just a sight alignment/ sight picture aid.

....unless it pulls the trigger for the shooter

And why did they emphasize that it's Linux based?

This system pulls the trigger for the shooter.
