Simulator SW for instrument practise

Last time I flew with my CFII (a while ago due to conflicts in schedules - he had one more tour to Afghanistan and I had a bunch of business travel) he suggested I get something better than MSFS to work on procedures. On Top sticks in my mind. That sound about right? My wife is looking for suggestions for Christmas...

The On Top software can, with the right hardware, be certified as an ATD. The same cannot be said about MSFS.
