A friend of mine is wanting to setup a semi-realistic cockpit for a simulator. He's a pilot but has been out of flying for several years. I think I'm slowly pulling him back in. Anyway, he's wanting dual throttle/prop controls, control yoke and rudder pedals as well as a touchscreen or 2 to simulate the other controls whether they're steam guages or glass. Anyone have a decent setup? Sporty's sells a kit complete with one touchscreen for about $1100 including the panel. I think he's willing to go as high as $2k not counting the screens for the outside view, the physical panel or computer/software. Purely the controls.

You should try and get in touch with a terrorist group. I bet they have sims they will sell cheap. I think they only use them once.... Ah crap..... DUCK!

Nice setup. What PC and flight sim software?

The PC Varies, the current one is an i5-3570K and an Nvidia 650 Ti. Out the window is X-Plane. Avionics is SimAvio by FlyThisSim(.com)

I use Prepar3D, Saitek Cessna Yoke, quadrant and pedals and an Oculus Rift DK2. My graphics card is dated so I had to turn down the scenery and turn off autogen, so right now it looks like a mesh of Flight Simulator and the 1980s arcade game Battlezone.

I still have an an Elite Simulator setup (Cirrus II w/single and dual quadrants plus PFC rudder pedals and Elite SW) that I want to sell. I'll be post it in the Classifieds here and a few other places shortly. If that doesn't sell it soon it's going on ebay.

Similar to the OP, is there a decent setup that I could just pay for, plug it in and use it? I don't want to build.

The two things that I'd spend money on are the yoke and the pedals. Saitek yoke is fine but it feels stiff to me and has a big dead zone. Same with the CH yoke. I would invest in a PFC set-up for your primary controls. My avionics and throttle are all GoFlight

Yes... but it depends on your price and needs.

If you have to ask you can't afford it: https://www.flyelite.com/faa-approved/advanced-atd/desktop-g1000/

There are probably also plenty of smaller shops that would happily build you a setup, but I can't find any in a quick search.
