I am committed to building a website focused on flying tail draggers. Need a simple drawing program to allow me to illustrate concepts like relative wind, vertical stab/rudder "effective shoreline" and similar. It's been years since I used, it but I remember MS Publisher did some of this. PowerPoint would too, but a little harder to save the created image to a document. Also, what's the best editor for a newby?

I do very little of that sort of thing, but I did play with an earlier release of FreeCAD a while ago and thought it had some promise.

"OpenOffice Drawing". It's free. If you like it, you can enjoy the OpenOffice suite's free word-processor and Powerpoint-like presentation features as well...

I also use "Gimp" for editing existing images. It's kind of a free (again, open-source) version of Photoshop. But like Photoshop, it's more for photo editing and less good for creating simple images (like schematics or whatever) from scratch.

Can you tell I'm cheap?

Get a scanner, hand draw on paper. :D
