Roger perhaps you cookies were cleaned out. Next time you sign in check the box to remember your sign in. That sometimes happens to me.

sorry ... I'm not seeing that (firefox 3.6 on xp, or safari on mac os/x) ... clear your cache on your browser, perhaps (sorry, that seems to have become the recent rendition of the old "reboot" fixall of the past)

As other have stated, the only reason that I can think of that something like that would happen were if cookies were disabled (or somehow not saving properly). I'm not going to ask you to switch browsers, but do you have another browser (or computer) that you could try to verify that it's working properly? I think we have the cookie retention set for a year. I haven't had to log in in months.

When I had that issue with the site, it went away when I checked
the "remember me" box.

Cleared for Takeoff
I'm using IE 7 and I just lowered the security setting on cookies
to Low. I'll see if that makes a difference.
