Hi folks,

My sister is an engineer at NASA, and she was assigned to this flight (and has been since day 1). She sent this to me today:

These websites have some really cool stuff from all the various cameras we now have both on & off the vehicle. We particularly like the one where you can see all the way to Main Engine Cut-Off and see the ET separate and the orbiter keep on going into orbit. That’s a view no one had ever seen until STS-114 last July. On our flight there were 2 new cameras on the SRBs – one pointing up and one pointing down on each side of the orbiter. In some of the SRB video as the SRBs are tumbling back to Earth you actually get a view of the entire plume from launch – all the way from KSC up to orbit! I definitely see it in the one called Right Aft Solid Rocket Booster Video. At least one of the SRB videos lets you watch all the way until the SRB makes its splashdown!

http://www.nasa.gov/externalflash/sts-121_front/index.html - A good version of the SRB video.

http://io.jsc.nasa.gov/nav2.cfm?gid=300 – I don’t know if people outside NASA can get to this site. It should be a page where you can see all kinds of photos taken during the mission – both on the shuttle and station, as well as in MCC (including a few of me doing important things like changing the channel to pick up the live EVA video, and slouching in my chair during EVA 1…) - click on the "FCR" link to get to these - Flight Control Room. There’s also a nice one of the whole shuttle flight control team (one of two whose shifts we overlap) – all us EVA folks on my shift are over on the right-hand side of the photo – in our team color for the day, which was apparently purple (no plans were made - we all just showed up in the same color). It's photo # jsc2006e27669.

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/launch/sts-121/sts121-allvideos.html - the quality of these clips is pretty bad – the videos themselves are very cool, not sure why they’ve made the resolution quite this poor.

FWIW, I haven't actually had time to try any of these myself yet.

I did get to meet one of the astronauts on this flight, Piers Sellers, last summer (05) when I flew down there after Gaston's. He was in the VR SAFER simulator right before me.
