can anyone give review of any of the museums in Shreveport. or anything else one should see.

I am thinking of going there between Christmas and New Years.
Thanks

Mmmm... there was someone on the Red Board (Fluidpusher?) who is from there.

There was someone who was a regular on Red that was based at KDTN

That might have been me. Both the RB and the PB didn't cotten to my "non-Politically correct" sense of humor.
So I left them alone...

DaytonaLynn;
Our local attractions are: 4 Casinos, the SciPort Center/IMAX Theater (the Titanic Exhibit is here 'till 2013; very cool), Norton Art Gallery, Barnwell Art Center (lesser known artists), several Christmas Light things (all the info I have...I don't like putting my own up so I refuse to stare agast at someone else's) and of course The Hustler Club Ta-Ta Club! (Don't laugh, I hear the gals put a new spin on Christmas!!!)
We also have a pretty neat little airport (DTN) with a nice FBO and the requisite bunch of Ramp Rats!

Chris in Shreveport

Millen Air is indeed a nice FBO, and I do like a bite at the Stone's Throw Cafe at the airport (if I can get there when it's open). That said, I doubt I'd ever visit Shreveport if not for my relatives there. My sister calls it "Shrevesburg" (but she loves it and will never leave!).

One of the more unusual places to visit would be the Karpeles Manuscript Museum, located in a neighborhood south of downtown in an old (but beautiful) building originally occupied by the First Church of Christ, Scientist. The building itself is an interesting part of the visit.

(It's also across the street from William Joyce's house, who in Shreveport counts as a major celebrity!)

Thanks that is very helpful. What to do and what NOT to do.

The Celebrity thing is intriguing enough to go for me. And the bonus of the restaurant at airport!

I forgot to mention the Barksdale Aircraft Museum; lots of beautiful aircraft B-52, SR-71,P-51, and lots more. Inside lots of displays and artifacts.

Now we are talking AVIATION............

Shame on me for forgetting the BAFB museum! That is indeed a nice collection of aircraft.

A local DFW radio station is running a contest. First prize is a week-end in Shreveport. Second prize is a full week.

:rofl:.... The place can't be that bad, can it :dunno::dunno::confused:
There's nothing wrong with Shreveport. But there's also a reason why there's no Lonely Planet travel guide for the place.

It's just a medium-sized town that feels smaller than it is. The sort of place where some parents kept their kids home from school to go get in the miles-long drive-through lane for Chick-Fil-A when the first one opened there ~10 years ago. (I'm not joking.)
