Short field landing in Honduras

brings a whole new meaning to having clearance

I think the optical foreshortening of that video makes it look a lot worse than it really is. The runway is over 6000 ft long and nearly 150 ft wide. Not where I'd want to land a 747 but not exactly STOL territory either. The elevation is about 3300 msl. The surrounding terrain doesn't appear to be too challenging either with no more than a 500 ft rise out to at 4-5 nm in either direction with a gradient of less than 150 ft/nm.

Did you notice how badly the airplane was crabbed at touchdown? That's gotta be hard on the tires.

i was referring to clearing the ridge and the trees on final. like you said, its usually not as close at it looks, but dang that looked close!

Yeah, I know that it can't possibly be as bad as it looks...but it sure looks bad.

It's nice to see one of those jet jocks actually doing a little bit of flying for a change.

Hmmm....looks like he touched short of the threshold...

-10 points for reg busting (I assume there's an equivalent ICAO reg)
