A little while back Jon with Shark Aero USA was kind enough to show me his plane and take me up for a quick flight. I was thoroughly impressed. It appears to be a well thought out design and very capable with a stall speed around 40kts, criuise somewhere around 150kts all while burning around 5ish gallons of regular car gas. Would be nice if the FAA would make it a bit easier to get one of these in the US. Anyone else look into this aircraft? Thoughts?

You'll have to wait until [if] the FAA revises the LSA rules; right now, the Euro-UL version (LSA weight limit) has retracts and other non-LSA goodies, not to mention the sheer speed.

Well like a lot of the European UL aircraft, they just don’t do well in the US for various reasons. I was optimistic about the D4 Fascination years ago and even flew in one at the factory in GE. While popular in Europe, only a handful in the US. I suspect the Aero Shark will face the same problems.

That all sounds good, but that is the high performance model with turbo charged engine, retractable gear, and shortened wings. You may find many of the flight characteristics and the WB envelope not to your liking.

No turbo on the one I went up in and I witnessed the speeds posted personally. No idea if the wings were shortened but if they were it handled wonderfully.
