I have recently begun taking flying lessons. I started reading about the process needed to get a medical certificate. Unfortunately I did have a diagnosis of depression/took Zoloft for three weeks and discontinued almost 4 years ago. I also took Ritalin for adhd for a few weeks almost 9 years ago. Both issues are on my medical record even though I do not actively take any medication nor do I believe have any issues with depression or adhd.
I know the process to get a certificate will be difficult and expensive based off everything I read here. My plan is to try to find a senior HIMS with experience in dealing with cases like this and work with that person to compile the paperwork for the FAA. I’d rather do all of the cognitive screening and tests up front before submitting the paperwork to the FAA and filling out the medexpress form.
Does anyone know any good senior HIMs who have experience with difficult cases around Boston/New England?
