Local FBO has a non-turbo Seneca for rent. I think its a Pa34-200. 1973. Looks to be in good shape, and I think the rate is $230 or somewhere around there.

Curious what kind of payload and cruise speed these airplanes have.

cruise about 145 on 18gph total. Yes it's that bad.

Uh, yeah. OK.

I'll wait for Bruce to give his numbers. I know it's faster than my Comanche.

from way back in my memory, when I flew a Seneca I for my multi and MEI training, I think we figured 150-160 knots. It was just as fast as the Debonair.

On my Seneca V, I flight plan 170 to 180 (180 if at 10K), although if I push the power up I will see 189 true at 10K.

Now, if you want to climb up a little and keep the power at 65%, it gets better.

We never went faster than 130 in the Seneca II I did my multi in, but we were pulled back quite a bit as well as fairly low.

It would take 4 of your singles to carry as much as my twin. ;)

Yep, he has a great plane for going places with not much stuff, but throw three non pilot passengers into the mix and a lowly 172 will get the load delivered faster with less fuel burned

I think it would take more than 4 actually :mad2:

All in good fun though! The planes are made for totally different missions.

Absolutely. Lancair is still in my "want to own" list. :)

I did my multi in a Seminole and with one feathered most of the time, it wasn't real fast either! :dunno:
