Sell me a Mac

I'll take the bet of ANY *nix-based OS on performance over Windows any day, any time.

For one thing, I'm not talking about raw performance. It's the rare app that -- if well-written -- comes anywhere close to taxing even run-of-the-mill hardware.

This is where you say you get to run $14,000 Enteprrise Edition on 16 CPUs and 128GB RAM and I don't.
I've only ever seen that kind of hardware running EE for core DB servers -- and other than that, only on giant VM clusters with dozens upon dozens of guests. Never seen a Windows app server like that. And that starts to get into the space in which Windows starts to make less sense.

People who know what they're doing tend to make a big difference.
