We decided Sedona would be a nice trip to make over Thanksgiving. My concerns are late November weather. We’ll be flying east from San Antonio to ELP-ish then across to SEZ. Looking for general weather issues that time of year that would drive a decision to deviate.

I’d also appreciate good alternates for a 172 if the weather isn’t conducive.

The weather should be great that time of year.
If it's not, you can visit Tucson, Alamogordo (White Sands), or El Paso (Carlsbad caverns, Franklin/Organ mountains).

Sedona in November is beautiful. Finally cool enough to walk around! One of my favorite places on the planet.

Keep your head on a swivel flying in. Many treat it one way in one way out. …]
I have seen that advice many time, to include in the ASAG video for Sedona. We would be arriving from the south most likely and because 21 is the primary launch direction, I’d probably go the long way and join the pattern instead flying the RNAV 3 which I’d prefer, simply for the vertical guidance as a cross check.

When I went last year, the weather was great there!
