Cleared for Takeoff
This was discussed on the AOPA board a while back. I looked through the old messages to find the link to the AD on C-172s referring to seats not locking into their tracks, and it's not there. Can anyone tell me where to find it?
Also, I found two links to sites that sell safety stops:
http://www.aerostop.net
http://www.aircraftsupply.com/categories.asp?cID=147&c=61759
Were there any others?
Yesterday when I was flying with my friends, it happened twice, but we were okay. The first time it happened I was sitting in the back behind the passenger, and his seat rolled back on takeoff. I told him not to grab anything, that the seat had stopped (yeah, on my knees, all 200 pounds of him).
The second time it happened, I was right seat and we were up a couple hundred feet over the water. My pilot friend suddenly said, "Take the airplane," and he let go. I took it and leveled us out. His seat had gone back a notch. Was I ever glad I was sitting in front!
I want to send him any information I can about this. He has a '67 (I think) C-172. Thx.
