When I was trying to search for something involving a particular Cessna, I typed "172" into the search box and got nothing. Likewise for "182". I just get the old "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." I'm pretty sure we've talked about Cessnas on here once or twice. ;)

This happens both in the popup search box that's on every page, and in the dedicated search page. Searching for "Cessna" works fine though.

Correct--must be longer than three characters.

Correct--must be longer than three characters.

Shouldn't it say that, then? :dunno:

Also, I thought it was three or longer, not longer than three?

For example, when you search on two characters, you get this: "The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : "

But three just gets you the "nothing found" response.

Would be cool if the search system could be made to allow aviation-related 3-letter terms, via a whitelist:

172, 182, ILS, VOR, etc.

I can't tell you the number of times I've run into this limitation. I mean, even searching for the FAQ on color USA MAP gives me almost no usable search terms! So often on this board we talk in terms of TLAs. It's very frustrating. I've thought about complaining about it before, but never did. Thanks, Kent!

Ahhh yes, the number three (3)

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'
