Well, what say you @eman1200, @FlySince9, and @Grum.Man. Triple Tree would be ideal, but I doubt their neighbors would appreciate all the low passes! I know of a decent grass strip near Lake Marion, and there's another near Orangeburg. There's also a strip near BQ1.

There's a sleepy airport with a hard-surfaced runway not far away from Cola. Then there's BQ1... not much room for camping though.

And KY is NOT in the Southeast!

Besides, the park service there might take a dim view of impromptu airshows.

I actually asked Mr. Gilliam about camping there, he said it could be arranged. I'm willing to be he'd say no alcohol, which, you know, eff that.
 
We could do it at 8A7. We have had a few flyins in the past. Usually RVs or a poker run gathering.

Local crop-dusting grass strip has a few hangars that I'd never really seen open... Other day a Mooney was taxiing away from one. Wouldn't have been my first guess on what was behind door #2.
 
Duh, just do your drinking before you fly in. Problem solved.
