I will soon have a 1090ES ADS-B "out" transponder installed and coupled to a GTN-750. So that will put TIS-A traffic on the GTN-750, but...

In order to receive all the ADS-B "goodies" like FIS-B (wx, radar, etc) and TIS-B (traffic) on the GTN-750 I need to install a 987 UAT "in" only box in the aircraft. I think several new options have come out in the last year or so but I haven't followed it closely.

Specifically, I don't want the Garmin GDL-88 as it is both 987 UAT "in" and "out" - overkill for this in-only application.

Can the board school me on what the options are for installed and TSO'd (if there is such a thing) 987 UAT "in" only boxes? It doesn't really need to be "panel-mounted" per se - it can be remoted if that's a thing.

TIA

Your barking up the wrong tree.....ditch the transponder thoughts and get a GDL88. As I said in the other thread you posted on the exact same topic, Garmin only talks with Garmin devices. Trig, avidyne, etc will not display anything on your 750.

Put an Aspen in it then add their ADS-B in box for $1500....that'll work for display on the Aspen, dunno if it'll talk to the 750...

Will the GDL-39 do it?

The GDL 88 alone doesn't give you Class A airspace.

Our Ranger UAT box is said to display traffic on the 430W. I'll confirm that after I fly it for the first time on Sunday.

I don't know of anyone who makes a permanently mounted 'in' only box, Garmin or not.

What about the GDL-39? I thought it did.:dunno:

Yea... Unaware he needed it. I say 330ES and the GDL39. I wouldn't rely on a Frankensteined box from someone who reverse engineered Garmin. At least not at the current prices for the boxes. Make it dirt cheap I'd give it a try.

Well, he already has a permanently mounted solution for all his ADS-B requirements with the 330es, he's looking for non required extras.:dunno:

How is he going to connect it to the 750?
