900', 1/2M Final, and a busy highway is a better option?

Granted, newstory numbers are rarely accurate.

Glad it was a successful landing and everyone is okay! I hope its a decision I never have to make.

The way I read it, 900' and 1/2 mile were two different points in time. The problem started at 900' AGL (and an unspecified distance from the runway), and the flight ended 1/2 mile from the airport (at 0' AGL, though that part was left to the reader's own devices).

That's my fall,winter ,spring base of operations,looks like the pilot did a good job,glad he's OK.
