I've been giving some consideration to the same idea. My 1500sqft of heaven in Silicon Valley just appraised at 3/4 mill. There are a lot of places within Cherokee range of RHV that I could commute to where my quality of life would be improved.

It would still have to be well within automotive range though. Light aircraft are simply not reliable transportation.
