It appears the good folks at Samsung have set up the factory reset process a little too loose for the devices like the S3.

I have reset various devices from Apple and Android and periodically back them up JIC. If you have not been doing that, it looks like you can lose everything by some hackers triggering the reset. Samsung appears to have a patch that needs to be downloaded.

Cheers

Dang, and I was thinking of getting a Galaxy phone.
First last weeks security bug in IE, and now they mess with smart phones.

If it's patched, you don't need to worry about it. Samsung is a solid company. They will make it right.

The operative phrase. :wink2:

If I had a Galaxy, I would backup ASAP. If I didn't, I would wait till this shakes out.

My month-old Galaxy S3 was never at risk. There is an on-line test you can put your phone through to make sure you're okay.
