NBSB report (national bird safety board)
IDENTIFICATION
Regis#: None Make/Model: Turkey Buzzard Description: Beautiful from a distance flying, butt ugly up close.
Date: 02/08/2008 Time: 0330

Event Type: Accident Highest Injury: FATAL Mid Air: Y Missing: N
Damage: Severe

LOCATION
City: PHOENIX State: AZ Country: US

DESCRIPTION
An aircraft struck Turk E. Buzzard damaging the leading edge of the right wing and head. No Flight Plan was filed. A review of Mr. Buzzard’s logbook shows that he was a very experienced pilot and that he had been flying since the age of 3 months. He had logged more than 16,000 hours flight time in same type, over 1000 hours in the last 6 months. There are no previous incidents on file for Mr. Buzzard.

Witnesses reported that Mr. Buzzard had left the roost early morning, and had been loitering over his favorite restaurant, Le Dump in the usual traffic patterns, when a large noisy white bird charged through the pattern without any calls. The white bird then struck Mr. Turk. E. Buzzard. Mr. Buzzard was last seen in a flat spin, and no further calls from him were heard. The other patrons at Le Dump, proceeded to have a memorial service and lunch in his honor. Mr. Turk E. Buzzard was the main course.

There also was an immediate call for fee's to be charged to all Buzzards using the roost, and flying over favorite dining spots. They clearly interfere and cause traffic congestion with all the LARGE WHITE NOISY BIRDS now crowding the skys. The LWNB lobby wholeheartedly agreed, that the small birds should pay for additional load and traffic they are causing.

There was an outcry of FOUL PLAY from BOPA (Buzzards Owners & Pilot Association) opposing all fee's, and many fiery letters have been sent to those Buzzards in congress and President Buzzard. Their only reply; is there any memorial lunch left?
