Safety pilot?

No, this isn't a thread about logging hours. If a person was going to be a safety pilot in an aircraft that needed a specific endorsement like a tailwheel for example, would the safety pilot need the tailwheel endorsement?

No.

Safety pilot needs a current medical, and be rated in category and class, but does not need endorsements.

SP doesn't even need a current BFR.

All of those requirements (BFR, endorsements) are needed for the Safety Pilot to act as PIC, not to be a Safety Pilot.

The medical is required because any "required flight crew-member" needs to have a valid medical.
