I feel so dirty now. Yes I was infected by safesearch. Zemana anti-malware did remove most of it. Malwarebytes seems to have removed the rest of it. Running hitmanpro now as a final clean-up.

This was ugly.

Mostly wanted to post the malware cleanup solution since many of the solutions which turned up from a simple google search didn’t work.
