RV-7 went down filiming a zombie movie

For some reason it's more disturbing to me to see a plane so intact in a fatal crash.

"""witnesses said that the plane's engine stalled"""
Well, there you have it. Everyone knows that when the engine stalls the plane crashes. :rolleyes2:

Sad to see two lives lost.

Yeah, I felt the same way.

High velocity, low angle I suppose. I took a course on aircraft accident investigation. Looking at crashes was not the worst part. I never liked the description of what the body goes through during a crash (while still in one piece... on the outside). Rest In Peace.

Been there... Done that....:sad::sad::sad::sad:

Great comment on the article.:mad2:

"Billy Banjo Guest
<LI class=vf-rank>Rank 0and another one falls from the sky - it is only a matter of time before one of those flying coffins' fall into someone's home and the loved ones' find out that the plane's only insurance is a lonely LLC that will fold like an envelope"

I have 100 bucks that guy is a ambulance chasing lawyer...:mad2:

Interesting the article says the cameraman was sitting in the seat behind the pilot, but an RV7 has side-by-side seating.

I guess he could have hunched down in the baggage area, altho the W&B would be WAY off...... Also... the pic shows the pilot had the flaps down,,

Probably low and slow fight requested for filming. In my -10 with full flaps there is little to no warning of an impending stall other than being light on the stick and a little mushy. I have not flown the -7, so cannot say. Lots of people watching and a camera man in the plane at sunset could be a big distraction for anyone. EAB and commercial operations...sorry, unable.

Emergency responders showed up to the crash site thinking the zombies were involved.

Rv-10 there is no buffeting or anything like that like a cessna on the rv ?

With flaps up, yes...lots of tail buffeting off of the wing. With full flaps, other than control feel and stall horn(if one hears it), it will go from flying nicely one second to sinking like a rock. No wing drop if the ball is centered. Add some power quickly to arrest descent on landing and all goes well. If the engine fails with full flaps while low and slow, one had best get the nose down quick with our short stubby wings. Something I simulate often at gross to keep my skills up.

He is facing East, so possibly the sun was reflecting off of panel.

Sounds like we may get some answers for this tragedy. Camera running inside per article and probably cameras on it from the ground. Condolences to the families...
