Luckily in the United States we have strong standards and operating procedures as well as currency requirements and training procedures. It's not like hundreds of pilots are suddenly going to go flying again after not sitting in a cockpit for a year and make goofs.. if someone does make a goof then standard operating procedures will be updated accordingly

They’ve got no simulator for an Airbus 330.
 
I didn't even see it was Lion Air.. that explains a lot. I also appreciate (not) the inclusion of the 737 Max in the article for additional "flying is scary stuff" fear factor
