A passenger jet was just seconds away from landing Thursday at Philadelphia International Airport when a Jeep broke through a chain-link fence and drove onto several runways, forcing a number of planes to circle the area, according to an air traffic controller familiar with the incident.

Did the Jeep opt out of the nudy scan? Did it have more than 4 oz of liquid?

People are running around screaming at the terrorist Jeep! OMG, the horror! It could have hit a plane! Think of the children!

Bonehead move by a drunk, stoned guy. Terror threat? No, but wait until you see the security theater measures they put in place to stop the threat!

'Course! This was a drunk civilian at an airliner airport but PROVES THAT WE MUST NEVER ALLOW PILOTS TO HAVE UNFETTERED ACCESS TO THEIR PLANES AT GA AIRPORTS!

He ran through a construction fence. These are of temporary nature. Next we'll see they will have to be jersey barrier type rather than free standing wire mesh.
Like someone expected a person to drive through something like that? I would not expect a wire mesh fence to stop a determined person but in this case, the guy probably was late to captain his next Northwest flight.

Even otherwise. I saw places at O'Hare where the only thing between the road and the runway is an unattended guard shack with a flimsy drawgate.

Some enterprising reporter is sure to report that the jeep failed to file a flight plan.

You guys just don't understand. It's a Jeep thing!

Oh no I hope this doesn't mean all the little towered airports will be forced to put up giant car proof fences.

Funny - the OP YouTube link shows on my iPhone but my post just shows the tags and data. On closer examination, OP used a full YouTube URL while I used yt tags. And iPhone has YouTube app installed. Odd

Love it Greg! One of my favorite shows from the 60's and one reason I still drive a "real" Jeep. :wink2:

If it really were these guys, I doubt there would have been much left of KPHL. True experts in hit and run demolition which is well documented, "In Color!". :D

Here we go. From ABC World News, a better copy of the video that was shot by a Captain in jet waiting for takeoff:

Then:
"It COULD HAVE BEEN CARRYING A BOMB!" "
The airport says the barrier was FAA-approved."
"I wonder if there wil be more pressure to change..."
