Planning to fly down to Pensacola, FL to visit our daughter in the next couple of weeks at the NAS. She is an Air Force girl finishing up some training there and I can't keep mom away any longer, its been since Christmas!:)

Looking for any local knowledge for KCGI, KMEI, or KJKA. Best FBO's, probable routes, things we have to see or do in the area, etc...

    Thanks in advance!

biggest thing, get flight following. lots of airspace and lots of traffic in the area. other than that, its and easy flight.

Thanks, I'll be IFR for the whole thing, hope that helps with routing in and around all of the MOA's and Alert areas down in the FL area...us flat land Iowa boys don't have to deal with that very often. LOL!

Ifr in there is a piece of cake. Controllers are use to working training flights os they have a lot of patience. Just be ready for”keep your speed up, jet traffic following.”

If Ferguson Field isn’t enough, I’d base out of JKA. Just hit the cheaper fuel on the way down.

Of course the Aviation Museum, then check out Pensacola Beach & some of the food/sights of interest.

While you’re down there.... seek out Dr. Lou and say thank you for the help he provides to the GA community

I really enjoyed my visit to Ft. Pickens during my overnight stop at Pensacola a few years back. You can spend most of a day at the Naval aviation museum on base if you're so inclined, and the lighthouse just down the street has a great view from the top if you make the climb. Had a meal at Peg Leg Pete's and it was fine, but the place was huge and crowded and wasn't my favorite. Had some oysters later at a much smaller place and enjoyed that experience a lot more. Sat at the bar and watched the staff shucking oysters and it was mesmerizing. Lots of locals...had fun eavesdropping on the banter among the regulars. Wish I could remember the name of that place!!
