What's the most roomy 4 place retract you can think of? With respectable speed

socata trinidad TB-20/21

I'm going to have to agree and disagree on this one. I had the pleasure of right seating a TB21 last night. I've ridden in the back of this plane and I will say that is very comfy, the front seat is a bit tighter than I'd like to admit not having an open area between the seats. Full disclosure, I need to improve the max useful on my archer by about 80lbs.

I will say it was a great ride, even in the bumps last night.

On another note, I dropped off a plane last night at a shop to get some work done and the TB21 was the ride home- wow did that thing sound great at idle sitting on the ramp outisde!!! I hadnt heard it while outside the plane before and that (for lack of knowing specifics on the motor) low throaty lopped cam idle reminded of the many nights as a youth at the drag strip!

My vote for roomy is an Arrow.

The inherent problem: The more roomy the plane, the more drag it produces. More drag = slower.

A V-tail Bonanza might be a good choice. Good compromise between speed/economy and space.

Not sure how much these dimensions differ by year, or how accurate the sources were, but here's what a quick look-up found:

Sierra:
Cabin height - 48"
Cabin width - 44"

Cardinal RG:
Cabin height - 44.5"
Cabin width - 48"

Debonair:
Cabin height - 50"
Cabin width - 42"

Socata TB 21
Cabin height - 47.2"
Cabin width - 50.4"

Oohhh! Facts! Thanks. (I swapped the 182G numbers to be in the same order as the others for comparison)

Thanks, didn't notice that I flip flopped on the order (now fixed); I believe my numbers for each were correct though.

I've never sat in the back seat of a Beech, but front seats in Bos seem the roomiest of anything I've flown.

You've never flown a 310 or an Aztec, I'm guessing. :)

If the intent is to get a roomy four seater, then maybe a Debonair might fit that bill. Basically a 4 seat version of a Bonanza. I've never sat in the back but the front seems every bit as roomy as that of a Bonanza.

Debonair back has plenty of room. Plus, by flying a Beech, you instantly become a better pilot, person, and American.

Citation X with custom cabin. Two pilot seats and two giant La-Z-Boy chairs and a bouncy castle in the rest of the cabin, just for fun.

They taper to the tail, also as a tall torso v tails are a no go for me as my head was against the roof in the front. But boy was it wide and comfy other than the lack of head room, and most folks aren't as tall as me so...
