Looks like I will be going with Dale to the Rockford (KRFD) EAA breakfast. We should be there at 11 am. Any of you late risers headed that way?
We will be in Dale's Skyhawk.:blueplane:

Was out renewing my instrument currency today - plan was 2 at KARR, 1 at KDKB, 2 at KRFD and then one returning to KDPA. Completed the first 3 fine but when I called in to Rockford approach they advised that no practice instrument approaches were authorized today due to the breakfast. That was the first I had heard of it. Had to circle and come up with some alternatives - back for one at KDKB and the one more at KARR before returning to KDPA.

We got there at 11:55 am. It was supposed to end at noon. But the folks were kind enough to set us up with a good breakfast. Several T-28s in attendance. Boy, pilots are getting old!
There were a few younger folks, but mostly old guys like me.
A Navy F-18 blasted off just after we landed. Pretty cool.
A Mooney Ovation parked next to us. Nice looking aircraft. There were a couple twin-Commanches, a Baron, a couple Cherokees and a few other planes. One of the food people said that the turnout was okay, but not great. It was a perfect day to fly.
One of the Cherokees had a younger pilot take it out. The young man asked me to explain TRSA services. I thought I summed it up pretty well, but he looked even more confused after I stopped talking. Oh, well.:blueplane:

Give Al Englehardt's answer; "It's an airport that doesn't qualify to be a Class C where the congressman got them a surplus radar.

What's so hard to understand about a Class C where the radar part is optional?

BTW, Al is the chairman of "Chicago Executive's" board now. I had no idea.

A guy at the AOPA town meeting complained about their anti-piston bias, and he didn't say a word, but Phil Boyer did.

I noted that. I wonder if the complainant said it because Al was in the audience?

Doubt it.

I myself was thinking that the piston hate at PWK was an issue we should talk about before the meeting, where I found out that Al was in charge. Al did the introduction of Phil Boyer.

Before that, in my usual charming way I said to hello to Al, "Still around, huh?" ;)
