Rockford Crash

What was wrong with what the homeowner said? Seems pretty good to me.

She got a scare and felt the pilot could as easily have crashed into her house. I can't fault her - she was there, I was not.

From what I heard she was thankful the pilot was able to avoid hitting her house.

Initially I thought I heard her say he "didn’t" know what he was doing, listened again and heard "did"…. then again "didn’t"……Maybe I need my ears checked…..Did you watch the clip?

I listened to it multiple times and think she said he "dint know what he was doing". Yes, harsh but she is not likely knowledgable about flying and was scared for her children when she imagined what could have happened. How many times have we seen a plane crash into a house? Plenty.

It is a bit muttered, but in the context I'm pretty sure she said "did know what he was doing" and she was grateful for that.

I didn't see any out of place comments. RIP. This kind of backs up what I have been taught. If there is a fire, land the plane, don't try to reach an airport.

I think she was complaining about "the angle he came in at". That is why she says "dint...".

I make her statement out to be, "...the pilot obviously didn't know what he was doing because at the angle that plane came in he could have easily hit the house or taken the house out..." She probably assumed the fire was a result of the crash, not the apparent cause of it.

I just listened to it again and I can't decide if she said did or did'nt. The rest makes sense either way.

Taken in the entire context, she's grateful for what? That he did know what he was doing.

"The pilot obviously did know what he was doing, because at the angle that the plane came in he could have very easily hit the house or taken the house out, so, you know, I'm grateful for that."

I speak Rockfordite, born and raised there. She was thanking the pilot that he did know what he was doing. ;)

Rockfordite doesn't make use of the word "knew"?

My thought also, at least re "knew" being how most would convey that thought. IMO. IMO. IMO. (for some folks here - LOL)

You now the press needs to really be aware of the people they interview when these things occur. Some people just cannot speak capably and misunderstandings can occur very easily. Someone died and instead they are busy interviewing some lady who obviously is having issues with her speech.

Rockfordite does not translate well to Californian.

All kidding aside for a minute.

I would like to pay my respects to the pilot who lost his life in this incident. A seasoned and by all accounts well respected aviator was lost today. For that I am truly saddened.

R.I.P.

Agree. And regardless of what a non-pilot on the ground said or "dint" say, he missed the house and that is what counts. RIP.

 Aviation is a very small world and the pilot who was killed was a member of my Sunday Breakfast (SMBC) and Wednesday Lunch (WALC) clubs. We will all miss him. R.I.P.
