RIP Farrah

Farrah Fawcett, whose stunning looks and blinding smile made her a pop icon of the 1970s, has died.

RIP. Hope you are among the real angels.

I f'ing hate cancer!

Rest in Peace Farrah.

BTW I was watching an old episode of the Partridge Family. It was the first episode after the pilot and Ruben and Danny are walking down the street. The stop and talk the this very lovely, young blonde girl, the actress was Farrah and it was one of her first TV roles. She was 23 at the time.

Very sad. My age. Quite the popular socialite back at UT Austin in college.

Best,

Dave

Saddest part is that they were finally going to wed, I guess knowing the end was near.
She was a great "household goddess" of the 20th century, plain and simple... but also a good actress (The Burning Bed springs to mind).

Every guy in the dorms at college had her poster. That was a classic.

:(

I can actually make this aviation-related... There is an airplane parked outside the Don Q Inn in Dodgeville, WI - A Boeing C-97 IIRC - that has Farrah's signature on the nose.

If you pan up just a bit, you can see the runway at the former Dodgeville Airport. All the pavement is still there, it's just littered with junked vehicles instead of being open to airplanes. :( The runway was only 2800 feet long, so they closed off state highway 23 just east of the runway.

I seem to have recalled the story being that upon touchdown they applied full reverse and brakes, and still went across the road (and that they knew that would happen, hence the road being closed) but the stories on airfields-freeman indicate that they stopped short of the road. :dunno: An interesting story, either way!

Now all they need to do is buy the airport and reopen it. They could call it the "Farrah Fawcett Memorial Airport!"

Uh you took the words right out of my mouth

Rest in Peace Farrah.

Ruben: In a moment you will see a man with a cane and wearing a neck brace walk down the street.

Farah: How will I recognize him?

They're reporting tonight that it was the best selling pin-up poster ever. Easy to see why...kinda "perky" don'cha think?!

I'm old enough to have grown up with charlie's angels. She was (and still is) an icon.

Yes! Without getting too graffic, this "era" was before all of the cosmetic surguries of today. Sure is something special about Farrah. She was everyone's pin up girl, I'm sad she suffered so long. Farrah was a fighter.

I can remember my mom saying ; "Why would you have your hair done when you are gonna go swimming?" I said; "I hadn't noticed her hair."
