So, I've been living in SC for just a smidge over 2 years. I discovered rice and hash shortly after moving here. MMMMMm Mmmm mmmmm Mmmm it's good. Much much better than coleslaw(ewww) as a BBQ side dish. Only today did I discover what's in it.... Basically pig scraps, head, intestines etc... don't care it's good and I grew up on chitlins. That's less disgusting than mayo mixed with old cabbage.

There is no old cabbage in proper coleslaw.

Perhaps it is time to change your medication if you like BBQ but don't like coleslaw.

Never have likeD it. The only slaw I could ever hold down was the mustard based stuff at the rendezvous in Memphis. I'm from the Memphis area, and some places will put that crap on a perfectly good pulled pork sandwiches without even so much as asking. SC doesn't do a lot right with BBQ but the rice and hash is good.

Even Brunswick stew is superior to coleslaw.

The reason you don't like cole-slaw is you haven't had that made in the kitchens of Steinholme. My asian slaw, with julienned veggies and spicy peanut butter mayo is to die for.

I like me some slaw now. But if this stuff is as good as you say, you will have to bring some back to the dirty south next time you come and let me try some. Ive never ate chitlins either though...

Ive been on a rib kick lately. Other than mine that I cook, Little Dooey has the best ribs around here.

I hope some day to visit you in Mississippi, a state I have to spell with a little song in my head and to which I have never traveled. That will have to wait until (a) I have my fast airplane (hopefully next week) and (b) until I have my IFR rating, which could take just a tad longer. But come I will, and I will either bring or make there food you simply will not believe.

Committed carnivores come to my house and rave about the food. No one has ever left hungry.

I was recently in Columbus, the burger joint is gone and was filled with u hauls and the little Dooley there was not up to par with starkvegas. Even the old burger joint was boarded up. WTF happened?

You talking about Christies?? Ugh that place was not good at all and that's why they closed. Everyone I know didn't like it. The one in starkvegas is the better one im told but I wont give it a chance.

I just recently ate, for the first time, at the dooey in starkvegas. I do like it better. But im trying to decide which one is grimier. hahaha but none the less the food is good and its my favorite in the GTR area regarding BBQ.

Man next time you come let me know! Ive been talking a lot with Bob, good guy. Heck Ill even take you flying in my speed demon:D.

My mom was in the hospital having back surgery, didn't have much "leisure time". I was looking for something called "ugggh not mcdonalds or Taco Bell again" recalled the burger joint....boarded up. Internet said it moved... Went there...Now a Uhaul lot. Little Dooley was next door, so I ate there, it wasn't good. My aunt showed up and drove back to Amory, got some Country Boys and a Knights steak sandwich. Some of the best grease you will ever eat. Country boys is much better than Bills if you're ever in town.

My wife transferred out of Bobs department, haven't heard much from/about him in a while. Heard he wound up with a musketeer.

Why you people hating on me just cause I can't make cole slaw!

Oh man, hope she is doing good!! Haven't spent much time in Amory at all. But if Im ever in the area ill keep that place in mind. Closest ive been is M40 doing my tailwheel with Mo. Yeah Bob has been coming to our EAA meetings/fly ins. He has a Sierra.

Ive been telling my wife I want to try Petits but she seems leery about it. haha other than dooey not much around. A few places on 45 by the base has popped up but not real fond of them.

Go to Amory, go to Knights....it's the closest restaurant to the airport but still 6 miles or so away. Don't let the looks put you off. If Buzz, Linda, Jessica or Leslie are there...tell em Bart sent you, they have owned the place for generations and I grew up with them next door. Order a breaded steak sandwich. It's all you're going to need. Multiple generations have made a living off that sandwhich. Make sure your medical isn't due soon and thank me later.

For the best hamburger you've ever eaten (no they're not thick, order 2 or 3) Goto country boys on main, it's across the street from Bills. Bills is famous and has a little more character, buy Doyle at country boys was their cook for years before starting his own across the street. They hire high school kids at bills and its nit as good. He's been flipping burgers for over 50 years and grinds his own meat. "With" means onions and "extra gravy" means he'll soak it in grease. Again, medical is in jeopardy. I order 2 cheese with and extra gravy. It's sort of a custom to have chocolate milk with your burgers. tell him I sent you too, known him all my life. He's also a pilot but hasn't flown in a while.
