A Rex Block is
A blocking pattern where there is an upper level high located directly north of a closed low.

We are under the influence of one today. I'd never heard it called that before.
Just found out how it was named.

Rex Kramer? ;)

Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up sniffing glue.

We were flying home one day and saw an odd spiral cloud. We described it to our daughter and son-in-law who have meteorology degrees (masters and PHD respectively) and they immediately came up with Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. That was a new one on us.
