Has anyone had a Aspen 16 gb data card go bad? One of my cards did as I was trying to update the charts from the Seattle Avionics web site. I have the 2000 Pro max set up so I have 2 data cards. The other card updated fine and works. The Jepp data on the cards is from 2022 when I had the Aspens installed. I did not get a Jepp subscription back then. Is there a way to make a new data card from the remaining good card I have or do I have to buy one from Aspen or a dealer? $200 for a data card seems a little steep.

Officially - Aspen Evolution flight displays, you cannot use over-the-counter memory cards directly. Aspen mandates the use of their proprietary 16 GB microSD card to store and read ChartData, terrain, and airport diagrams due to system licensing and formatting.

Unofficially - There are folks online stating they are using standard 16 GB microSD cards and strictly matching the original folder structure and using the correct FAT32 formatting for basic data updates.

Me, I’d just pay the $200 or keep searching eBay. There was one on there recently for $69.

Understood. I was not aware that the Aspen cards had special data on them. I don’t remember how the original cards were created. I know I updated the Jepp data for the 3 free updates back in 2022 and have been updating the chart data through Seattle Avionics since then with no problems. Having a card just crater like this is a royal PITA.

Maybe try a standard 16 GB card first?

Maybe call Seattle avionics and see what they say.
