Two questions about my Mountain High oxygen system:

1) The hoses for my cannulas are getting pretty ratty - pinched and folded. Surely there is a way to replace just the hoses/tubes. Has anyone figured this out? Mountain High says they cannot be replaced, and the full flow meter/cannula system costs $130 which strikes me as punitive, especially when it’s $130 x 4 for a standard 4-place system.

2) I got to thinking - always a bad idea… but built-in oxygen always seemed like a cool idea to me. Has anyone ever done a kind of quasi-built in system putting the O2 bottle in the baggage area and then running the hoses (for instance) behind the upholstery or along the headliner to each seat? Since nothing would be “permanently affixed” I can see scenarios that wouldn’t trigger an approval/STC issue, and I’m curious if anyone out there has ever done so.

You should not have to replace the flow meter to replace the cannula. You can find oxygen cannulae from many sources that will adapt. For the tubing from the flow meter to the tank, you can source Tygon tubing of the same diameter/wall thickness if you retain the fittings.

Just order some nasal cannulas for a few bucks, cut the end(s) off and splice onto yours with some automotive vacuum connectors. I use a tee to share a bottle with my passenger.

Sure it’s been done. Doctor recommended.

Did you actually call and talk to them? That price does not seem right, I bought some last year and I believe they were 30-40 dollars a piece.
