Headed to watch the total solar eclipse from Mallorca for a few days then looking to spend another 6 days in Europe. Thought about Scandinavia but never been to Greece either. Anyone know of a place where you can rent a plane with pilot/instructor to do some flight seeing? I figure logging some dual time over Norway or the Greek Isles would be pretty cool.

I did that at Megara Airport in 2016, so they may still be there (dont remember the flight school name). Cruised around Greek islands for a couple of hours.

Thanks. Decided to skip Greece in the heat of summer so I'm headed to Scandinavia. I'll see if I can find a flight school up there.

I'm born and raised in Norway, so hit me up if you have any questions. All Norwegians speak English, however, most aero club (flyklubb) websites are in Norwegian only. If you Google "flyklubb" and the general area you're traveling to, you might be able to find some. Or ask me.

Thank you, Kai! I see there is a flying klub in Bergen where I’ll be at least a couple days. I’ll see if someone can take me up. If I fly with an instructor do you know if the FAA recognizes that logged as dual time?

Quite possible, check out 14 CFR § 61.41.

Yes, as you're under instruction of an instructor appropriately certified by that country. Ironically enough, per the Bergen Aero Klubb website, they now own LN-FTU which happens to be the exact plane I flew when it was owned by Pilot Flight School (creative name, I know) at ENTO in 2020.

Nice plane! Have one hour in a DA-20 but never DA-40. I have some G1000 experience but not lately. Hope it works out.
