I am sitting her with a tear in my eye this morning, not in sadness but in happiness. My faith in humanity was renewed this morning as I retrieved my morning mail. There were four checks totaling $250.00 for me to use for fuel for the Minam Lodge Project. Pilots are the best people in the world. I got one response with the checks. I think he summed it up for me. His letter to me read:

Bob,I have been enjoying your posts on various forums and your videos on you tube for a while now. I have been flying for 32 years and the same 1968 Cessna 182 for 23 years. Last august I flew to Minam for breakfast for the first time and used your pop over to Red's technique on the way out. My schedule prevents me from participating in the Minam event on the 14th but hope this small donation will help you and to keep this flying gem open to all of us.

Your fellow 182 Pilot

( Name with held because I don't have permission to post it)

I hope to see you folks on the 14th & 15th. I'm a little apprehensive on runway length for departure but the photos didn't show any obstructions to speak of so I'm thinkin' things will be okay.

Frank, Did you see how I sometimes jump over the fence and use the upper Red's Horse Ranch strip to take off with a longer (2800+ a 500 ft over run) strip to get airborne? It gives you a little more room to get over the trees at the down river end of the 2000 ft Minam strip.

Yup, I picked up on that. It looked like an out if things didn't go right. Shouldn't have a problem as long as I keep it light.
