Removing old decals

i got a new set of decals for my '65 Cherokee 140 - what is the best approach for removing old decals from the panel?

Since they are so old, they will probably peel right off quite easily then you can use something like Goof Off to clean up any residual adhesive.
 
Not to steal your thread but I have several small decals on the inside of my side windows I'd like to remove. When I tried with my fingernail they were quite bonded.

How do you remove decals off of plexiglass? I figured Goof-Off would ruin the plexiglass.

A hair dryer (not a heat gun).
