A bit more info. The red and blue have nothing to do with political leanings, just the background color of the web pages.
AOPA operated an unmoderated webboard similar to PoA for several years and it eventually became so mired in typical internet squabbling that AOPA shut it down for a few months. To fill the vacuum some very generous folks created PoA. Eventually the AOPA site (red board) came back online but many of us remained here, some participate in both, and some went back to AOPA never to be seen here again. The traffic is quite a bit higher over there, you must be an AOPA member to participate, and IIRC nothing but aviation related post are tolerated.
Also FWIW the atmosphere here is far more social IME and PoA "sponsors" (not literally) a few get togethers, the biggest of which is the Gaston's fly-in in June of each year, the "Mecca" of PoA members.
