I am a complete newbie just preparing for my first lesson, likely sometime this Fall. Are there any books that are considered "must read" for new pilots?

Thanks!

Are you looking for "fun reading" or "study reading"? If you are looking for study reading, nothing beats the FAA books - Airplane Flying Handbook and the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge. You can buy them or read them as pdfs for free. They are not fun or light reading, but they are very informational and will expose you to a lot of the material you will cover in ground school.

If you want fun reading, you can try browsing here: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/forums/the-book-club.44/ Lots of recommendations there! :)
